I think lots of people near the hall had a bit of a headache today when Pete came in to hold some drumming workshops in Year 6! Coincidentally, Pete worked at a refugee camp in Bosnia in the 90s and told us that he used music to help raise the spirits of the refugees. This was a great link to our Refugee Boy book.
We had to use a range of different drums (and other instruments) to keep and hold a steady rhythm and some children even got the chance to act as conductors and controlled the beat and volume of the music. (Which is probably why it got so loud!) Lots of the drums were African in origin as well so this was another good link to our Refugee Boy book we are currently reading in class. You can visit Pete's drumming website at http://www.umbanda.co.uk/ to find out a bit more about what he does.
